Collection of information
We collect personal information from you in a number of situations. When you register in the Planning Ahead and the Next of Kin sections of Lasting Post, we ask for personal details about you such as your name and e-mail address. Then when you input choices, these choices are also recorded. We also collect the personal information that you provide when you request a product or service from us, including when you register to post content on Lasting Post, e.g. an Announcement of death or entry in a Memorial Book. Finally, we keep a record of communications by email you may have with us.
Use of information
We will use your personal information for the purpose of planning and managing Lasting Post’s business including record keeping, statistical analysis and for tracking activity on Lasting Post. We will also use your personal information to check you are eligible to register for any sections of our web-site to which you have requested access, to provide you with that access and with facilities which you have requested, e.g. the ability to post messages or other content. We may send you information about features and services which we believe might be of interest to you.
Updating personal information
The responsibility is on you to ensure that all the personal information which you submit to Lasting Post is up to date and correct.
Any child under the age of sixteen will require the consent of a parent or guardian before registering their personal details on Lasting Post. The parent or guardian must accept full responsibility for our use of this information in accordance with this policy.
We take your security very seriously at Lasting Post. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we must comply with certain regulations which are designed to ensure that any personal information you provide to us is processed with due care and attention.
We have strict procedures regarding the storage and disclosure of personal information. Your data will be held on a secure server and security precautions have been put in place to seek to prevent alteration, loss or misuse of data that is under our control.
Transfer of data
The internet is a global network. The European Union has extensive laws that protect your rights. There are other countries outside the European Union with less extensive laws. In order to provide you with certain services or products we may need to transfer your personal information outside the European Union. If we do so, we will take proper steps to ensure your personal information is properly protected. However, by using Lasting Post you’re agreeing and authorising us to process data in this way.
